Definition of personal data
Under GDPR, ‘personal data’ means any information relating to an identifiable person who can be directly or indirectly identified in particular by reference to an identifier.
Understanding how we obtain, store and use your personal data
The purpose of this privacy statement is to confirm that we take your privacy seriously. When you provide personal information to us, you understand that you are agreeing to allow us when (in particular) we are involved in legal proceedings to share certain data held by us. This may include our Employees, Consultants, Barristers, Barristers’ Chambers, Courts, Process Servers and any other (legal) services that we may be required to use.
Security of personal data
Data security is very important to us, and we take it very seriously. All members of staff and Consultants are responsible for ensuring that any personal data that we hold is kept securely and not disclosed to any third parties. Our IT is fully encrypted with password protection in line with our Access Control Policy. Efforts are made to limit access to our database that holds personal data to those who are only authorised by us. However, for the performance of all duties, our members of staff and Consultants working for / with us will have access to such personal data when required.
Accessing your personal data
You may request access, deletion of or anonymisation of your personal information held by us. Please email our Data Protection Officer, Mr. Andrew Delo on andrew@starkefamilylaw.co.uk
Requesting a copy of your personal information
You can request for a copy of your personal information, which could be a copy of everything we have on record relating to you. This is known as a ‘subject access request’. Please contact our DPO, Mr. Andrew Delo, for our ‘subject access request’ policy. You will then then need to send your completed ‘subject access request form’ and current proof of your identity (valid driver’s license / passport and a recent utility bill) to Mr. Andrew Delo. We should then be able to provide you with a paper copy of the information you have requested.
Updating us of changes in your personal data
If you would like us to ensure your personal data up to date, please contact Mr. Andrew Delo in writing, to our Horsham office, with your update(s).
Client Confidentiality
We have a duty of client confidentiality. Any client personal data provided to us will be held in the strictest of confidence in accordance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority rules and regulations.
Disclosure of Information
We will treat your personal data with the utmost care. With your permission and / or when permitted by law, we may use your data for marketing purposes.
